Kriega US-40 Rackpack on BMW F900GS

Large tail bags are a good choice for storing camping gear or other bulky items on longer trips, or when, for whatever the reason, you want to avoid using side bags. Kriega US-40 Rackpack has some neat features and fits the BMW F900GS excellently.

As the name suggests, maximum capacity is 40 liters. With roll-top closure at both ends, the volume can easily be reduced if needed. Removable inner drybag makes the US-40 fully waterproof.

Being on the large size means that the US-40 needs adequate support. Perun moto BMW F900GS Top luggage rack has large enough surface area for this task. With slots specifically positioned with this bag in mind, installation is a breeze.

Pass the G-hook straps trough the slots on the rack, hook one end to the loop on the US-40, and buckle up the other end. Tighten the straps as needed. Strapped like this, the bag is secure and doesn't move. Chamfered edges of the Top luggage rack mean the straps are safe from damage even after prolonged use.

For optimal results, this type of strapping requires the bag to be compacted well. Otherwise the stuff inside can shift and enable straps to become loose. 

If the bag is used with little luggage inside, it's better to use regular cam buckle or Rok straps.

There are many attachment points around the US-40. These make addition of smaller US-Drybags or pockets easy. One of my favorite add-ons is a Kriega 2l OS-Bottle holder (shown below fitted to another bike, for reference).
