One of the primary design goals of our top luggage racks is to provide an optimal platform for securing various rack-less luggage systems. Slots are positioned in specific locations and angles to offer best possible attachment points. All edges are smooth and chamfered which ensures strap longevity. Our BMW F900GS Top luggage rack certainly follows the same philosophy.

Giant Loop Great Basin is one of several luggage setups we consider when designing a top rack. This ensures a great fit of the bags on the bike.

Great Basin saddlebags have been around for a while now. Well proven and simple design which offers a lot of storage space.

Upper part of the begs uses three straps for attachment. These are easily threaded trough slots on our Top luggage rack. The process is straightforward and quick.

Upper straps on the Great Basin have additional stoppers which basically eliminate the chance of them coming loose or undone.

Tie-down brackets provide perfectly positioned attachment point for lower straps.

Using our Tie-down brackets instead of passenger footrest brackets saves a bit of weight and gives the bike a sleeker look. Riding with passenger becomes impossible, obviously.

Even with the Giant Loop Great Basin large size, the bags are still narrower than handlebars.

Lower part of the bag is partially supported by rear subframe of the bike. This ensures stability in bumpy riding conditions. There is no risk of bags getting damaged by swingarm or rear wheel (under presumption that they are installed and tightened correctly).

Right hand side sits close to the stock silencer. Heat may be an issue so I would strongly advise the use of a heat shield which is provided with the bags.

With Great Basin positioned as far forward as it makes sense (like shown here), large part of our luggage rack remains free. It's possible to add a tent or small drybag for additional storage capacity.

    Hi Jiri.
It is inevitable to get some scuff marks from the heat shield on the exhaust. I don’t know how it would be possible to protect it.
This is a friend’s bike so we used just simple zip ties to attach the heat shield for testing purposes in the shop. That would, obviously, not work for riding. On all our other bikes we use long hose clamps to secure the heat shield.

As far as mounting the Givi Trekker top case: that’s certainly possible. You will need mounting hardware which is sold by Givi/Kappa, but also by SW-Motech. Please read the installation instruction linked below (section II).

Hi, I want to order a luggage rack for a BMW 900 GS motorcycle from you. It is not available yet. No problem. I have a question..I have luggage from Moskomoto and a heat shield for the exhaust. How and with what did you attach this heat shield to the exhaust (your photos) so that it does not get scratched? And the second question..I also have a Givi Trekker topcase and I will want to attach it to your luggage rack from time to time. Is that possible? And what else will I need to buy so that I can use the case on your rack? Thank you J. Bastl
