Our top luggage racks are designed with one primary goal in mind: to provide the perfect foundation for securing a variety of rack-less luggage systems. With carefully positioned slots and angles, these racks ensure optimal attachment points. All edges are smoothly chamfered, enhancing the durability and longevity of straps. The Aprilia Tuareg 660 top luggage rack adheres to this philosophy, delivering functionality and reliability in one sleek package.
The Giant Loop Great Basin is one of the luggage systems we consider during the design process, ensuring the best possible fit when mounted on the bike.
The Great Basin saddlebags have been a reliable choice for quite some time. Their simple yet effective design offers a substantial amount of storage space.
The upper portion of the bags uses three straps for attachment, which can be easily threaded through the slots on our top luggage rack. The process is quick and straightforward.
These upper straps of the Great Basin include additional stoppers, effectively eliminating the possibility of them coming loose or undone.
Our Tie-down brackets provide the perfect attachment points for the lower straps.
Passenger footrest brackets can also be used, but if, like me, you've hit your leg on the passenger footrest bracket more than once, you’ll understand why tie-down brackets are preferred. Naturally, this setup makes carrying a passenger impossible
Even with the large size of the Giant Loop Great Basin, the bags remain narrower than the handlebars.
The lower part of the bag is partially supported by side panels, ensuring stability even in bumpy conditions. As long as the bags are installed and tightened properly, there’s no risk of them coming into contact with the swingarm or rear wheel.
The right-hand side sits close to the stock silencer, and heat could be a concern. To mitigate this, we highly recommend using the heat shield provided with the bags.
When positioned as far forward as practical (as shown here), portion of our luggage rack stays free. This allows space for additional gear, such as a tent or a small dry bag, to expand your storage capacity.
You can check out this brief video to get a better idea of how this setup looks and functions on the Tuareg 660.
