SW-Motech 38l top case on BMW R1300GS

Mounting a top case to the BMW R1300GS is certainly not uncommon. It's a big bike and an amazing long distance touring machine, so aluminum cases make a lot of sense. SW-Motech Trax ADV 38l Top case provides a compact storage solution, making it well-suited for day trips or short excursions.

While most aftermarket top rack manufacturers design their racks to position the top case further back, creating more space for the rider and passenger, we took a different approach with our BMW R1300GS Top luggage rack - Sport.

Like all our luggage racks, we prioritize off-road performance and a 'rider-only' setup. This leads to smaller, lighter racks that sit lower and further forward on the bike. By positioning the top case closer to the center of gravity, it has less impact on the bike's handling, resulting in a better rider experience. However, this setup isn't ideal for riding with a passenger, as it leaves less room.

Our Sport top rack comes with pre-drilled holes for installation of SW-Motech and Givi/Kappa Monokey top cases. In either case, top case mounting hardware (not included with Perun moto Top luggage rack-Sport) installs directly to the top rack. There is no need for adapter plates and this helps keep the weight down.

Although the rack is very sturdy and strong, we recommend using the top case only on pavement and limiting the weight carried in the top case to 5 kg. 

Even with the top case mounted, slots on front of the luggage rack are accessible. This comes in handy if you want to strap a small bag to the rear of the seat.
