KTM 690 Enduro and Mosko moto Reckless 40 (v4.0) are a perfect match for riders who like to venture into rugged terrain, but still need to pack decent amount of gear. Thanks to couple of Perun moto products, usability of the Reckless 40 is enhanced.
To enable simpler and better installation of the Reckless 40, and many other bags, we have designed our KTM 690 2019+ Luggage rack with some distinct features. All slots are carefully placed to give optimal attachment points for upper straps. Since all of the edges on our rack are chamfered, lifespan of the straps is greatly increased. Keeping the straps as short as possible improves stability of the entire luggage setup.
Even tough our Luggage rack was designed before Mosko moto came out with the Gnoblin, it is still possible to mount and use it. Just remember to use an additional M6 wide flat washer on the underside of our rack.
As can be seen from the above photos, base of the Reckless 40 covers the fuel cap. However, with the Gnoblin installed it's not a big issue to move the bags away for refueling.
Lower straps attach to our Heel guards. In their newest, Gen 3 iteration, Heel guards feature a quick release slot. This way it's possible to attach the straps without completely undoing them from the buckles. Additionally, Gen 3 version has even smother radius on the edges of slots, making them more strap friendly.
Note that the photo above shows previous Gen2 version of the Heel guards installed on the bike. Slot angles and sizes are the same so there is no difference in fit of the bags.
We are using the base of Reckless 40 in Wide setting. This works perfectly for the 690.
Legs of the harness rest entirely on the side panels. This keeps them away from the silencer and also improves stability.
This is a narrow setup, considerably narrower than stock handlebars.
Take a look at this short video to give you a better idea about installation and fit of the Reckless 40 (v4.0) on KTM 690 Enduro.
A couple more photos showing this great setup from different angles.
Small part of our Luggage rack remains free beneath Reckless 40 base, limiting options for mounting additional luggage. So, for riders who like camping or simply want to bring extra luggage, we have designed Extension plate for Luggage rack.
Additional real estate of the Extension plate makes it possible to pack a tent, sleeping bag or other bulkier items.
Mounting options for the Reckless 40 remain the same as without the Extension plate. Same slots on our Luggage rack still work the best.
Underside of the Reckless 40 harness goes over the corners of the Extension plate. We have designed the angles in a way which minimizes interference but there is still a chance that rubber foam might get damaged over time.
For Gnoblin users, to compensate for the additional thickness of Extension plate, it is necessary to use three additional M6 wide flat washers on the upper side of the Luggage rack (and one on the underside, as mentioned earlier in this article). Longer bolt might be needed.
