Side carriers for 2021 KTM 1290 Super adventure

With this product we wanted to offer lightweight and low profile method of carrying small bags on the sides of the bike. 

Experience from our previous similar products, like KTM 1X90 Side carriers (for 2013-2020 KTM 1X90 Adventure bikes) and KTM 790/890 Luggage rails led us to this design, and we are happy to present 2021+ KTM 1290 Side carriers.

Ease of use and perfect fit were imperatives. So we designed these carriers to work perfectly with two types of bags - Mosko moto Aux Pox (4l or 5l) and Kriega OS-6 Adventure pack. Choice of the bags that now can be used with our Side carriers is narrowed, but this should provide perfect fit of the supported bags. 

Over the years, we came to the conclusion that small sized bags are best suited for this kind of use. Most rack-less systems, like Mosko moto R80 or Giant Loop Siskiyou can be used on top of these small bags. Of course, for carrying larger classic soft pannier bags (20+ liters), traditional pannier racks are best. 

In order to manufacture Side carriers that can be fitted to the 2021+ KTM 1290 Super adventure R/S, we take thick aluminum-magnesium alloy sheet and we mill it. Final product is mostly 6 mm thick, with few 8 mm thick "islands". These islands provide additional strength...

...or provide enough material for Helicoil inserts. 

Since planes on the side of KTM 1290 are positioned at a different angles, we created a small but complex spacer, which solves the problem very elegantly.

And like on all our products, we tried to pay maximum attention to details, so all edges are chamfered and high quality powder coating (IGP Duraface) is used.

Mounted, Side carriers blend with the bike.  

They are so close to the bike that they can't be seen from the center position.

In order to achieve perfect fit, Side carriers are customized to accept two types of bags. Here is how Kriega OS-6 Adventure pack fits.

It can be used with or without stock grab handles. 

There is more than enough clearance between stock silencer and the bag. 

And bag sits very close to the bike.

Other type of bags perfectly suited for our Side carriers are Mosko moto pockets - Aux Pox 4l or Aux Pox 5l. Idea of external pocket that bolts to the bike is very interesting and we were playing with it for a while. Installation of Mosko pockets is now very easy, as there are threaded holes on the Side carriers so pockets are simply bolted to them, without need to play with washers and nuts. This was not so easy to achieve, and we are very proud of this feature. As mentioned before, to achieve durability of the threads, we use Helicoil inserts. 

Aux Pox 4l and Aux Pox 5l have different hole pattern, but both can be fitted. Again, installation details can be found HERE.

Here is how Aux Pox 5l looks, on the RHS. Again, more than enough clearance between silencer and the bag. And again, stock grab handles can be used. 

Since outer pocket of Aux Pox 5l is large enough, even Mosko moto Fatty tool roll can slip in. Although it is advisable to use extra strap to secure it, if it is very heavy (tyre irons etc.)

Mosko pockets sit very close to the bike.
