Aprilia Tuareg has a 12mm bar above the dashboard. This bar is perfectly positioned for installation of GPS units in line of sight. Garmin Zumo XT is one of the more commonly used navigation units today and it's a great choice.
If you don't have your own already, check Perun moto R12 Bar clamp AMPS which provides M4 threaded holes and can be mounted in horizontal and vertical position.
PRO TIP: tighten the bolts equally, but don't tighten too much - so GPS/phone stays in place but you can still rotate it if needed.
At this point, chances are rather good that you have discovered your 12mm GPS bar has some free play and rotates. This is a very common issue on the Tuareg. Luckily, there's an easy fix which I have covered in a separate blog post HERE.
Installation of Zumo XT is very simple. Just bolt the appropriate cradle to the Perun moto R12 Bar clamp AMPS. R12 bar clamp allows height adjustment of GPS in three different positions. I have used the middle one. That way, there's still enough clearance both from dashboard sun shade and from the windshield.
Cradle can be wired to the bike, but I'm powering the Zumo XT from USB socket for now. With that said, installation is complete. Just lock the unit into place. Tilt of the Zumo can easily be adjusted.
