The original Enduristan Blizzard XL saddlebags (now discontinued) have been around for a while. Their simplistic and unique design has some nice benefits. Testing them on Aprilia Tuareg 660 reassured me that they are a very good option.
Fit on the bike is excellent. Top of the bags is flat and lies almost flush with the seat. The bags are not in riders' way when mounting or dismounting the bike. All of the weight is carried down low which is always a plus.
The bike is equipped with Perun moto Aprilia Tuareg Top luggage rack and Tie-down brackets. Top of the Blizzard bags can be attached in several different ways. A single strap can be threaded trough slots on the rack. This is secure option, but definitely not the fastest one. My preferred method is to use Enduristan strap with hooks.
Hooks will securely grab the slots on luggage rack and installation takes no time at all. One potential drawback of this system, for perfectionists out there: over time, the hooks will damage powder coating of the rack.
As can be seen from the photo above, entire surface of the rack remains free. This is great news for anyone needing to pack additional luggage for prolonged adventures.
XL version of the Blizzards have total capacity of 34 liters (17l per side). Interior space is unusually long so it shouldn't be difficult to pack tents, camping chair or similar. Roll top closure provides large main opening.
RHS bag will sit on the stock silencer. Use of a heat shield is a must.
LHS bag is partially lying on the side panels of the bike. I haven't noticed any significant bounce. Though, to be honest, riding conditions were not especially bumpy during my testing. There is no real risk of the bags getting tangled in rear wheel (providing they were properly installed, of course) or swingarm.
This setup is narrow. Noticeably narrower than the handlebars. Awesome for tight riding or traffic filtering (where permitted). Perspective on the photo below is slightly off and bags appear to be wider than they really are.
Lower straps can be attached to passenger foot rest brackets. After being repeatedly hit by them, they were the first thing to be removed from my bike... Our alternative are Tie-down brackets. Tucked in close to the bike, you'll never know they exist. And, as the name suggests, they work brilliantly as tie-down points.
Smooth and chamfered edges will prolong strap life.
Here is a short video which might give a better feel for the fit of the Blizzard XL bags on the Tuareg.
Enduristan has recently updated design of the Blizzard line-up with some new features and sleek looks. I have still not seen the new ones in person but can't wait to give them a proper shake down. Until then, just keep using the original ones.
